We see Hackathons not only creating an opportunity for aspiring, tech-savvy students to begin networking with mentors and like-minded students, but also inspiring others to pursue technology based hobbies like coding and encouraging the growth of a new type of STEM oriented community in Vancouver and throughout the Lower Mainland.

Our Team
Kaden Gulamani (Executive Director)
Currently, I’m a grade 12 student at Mulgrave, an IB World School in West Vancouver. Taking up numerous co-curricular and entrepreneurship projects, I aim to find a balance while exploring a blend of next-generation healthcare science interests/projects, as well as technology and business administration education. I am really excited about XdHacks Mini and can’t wait to meet you all there! It’s been a pleasure to organize this event.
We are very happy to bring XdHacks Mini to you! Being the first event of its kind in Vancouver, we hope that it will inspire a life-long interest for technology and provide opportunity for students across the Lower Mainland to showcase their knowledge and passion, while developing vital career-oriented skills.
Bo Ya Zhang (Director of Platform)
Boya Zhang is a junior at Port Moody Secondary. When not procrastinating, he can be found volunteering a variety of non-profit organizations, caressing the keys on his piano to make the music sound more “romantic”, or (rarely) studying for a test the morning before. Having a profound interest in technology, he hopes to attract, engage and inspire other teenagers to become more familiar with this intriguing realm through XdHacks Mini 2019.

Jenny Jiang (Director of Human Resources)
Jenny is a junior at Port Moody Secondary School, and is thrilled to be the Director of Human Resources for Xdhacks Mini 2019! Ever since being introduced to the idea of hackathons, Jenny has been captivated by the innovative and collaborative aspect of the experience. In her spare time, Jenny can be found indulging herself in the realm of mathematics and history, or simply just taking 8 hours long naps. Above all, Jenny strives to instill an unforgettable hacking experience for every participant!
Christina Xie (Director of Catering)
Christina Xie is a junior in the IB Programme at Port Moody Secondary School. When not memorizing French verb conjugations, she can be found doing rhythmic gymnastics, attending MUN conferences, and feverishly reading articles about the state of the environment (only to be left with elevated levels of climate anxiety). Christina is honored to serve as the Director of Foods at XdHacks Mini 2019 and hopes this iteration fosters the future of young programmers.
Amin Gulamani (Director of Design)
Amin is a Junior at Mulgrave School and is thrilled to be Director of Design for XdHacks mini. Amin is excited to have the opportunity to share his love for both technical and creative with high school students through this Hackathon. During his spare time he can be found obsessing in CAD, designing rocket aerostructures or learning another coding language, but, above all, Amin is proud to help high schoolers across Vancouver connect and solve real world problems together.
Joseph Li (Director of Logistics)
Joseph is a Senior at Mulgrave school and is delighted to be the Director of Logistics for XDhacks Mini 2019! Apart from being a 24/7 IB student, Joseph can be found diving head first into the newest movies, playing a round of golf on a sunny afternoon, or seeking out for one of the countless uncharted restaurants in the lower mainland . It will be an honor to meet all of you at XDhacks Mini this November!
Lucy Mo (Director of Tech)
I am a Grade 11 IB student at Semiahmoo Secondary school. Being very passionate about programming, I am especially interested in AI technology and web development. During my very-limited free time, I enjoy watching dramas and working on personal research projects about machine learning. It is a pleasure to be working with XdHacks Mini as the Director of Tech, and I hope to meet you at this inspiring opportunity!
Yoonsik Jung (Director of Activities)
Yoonsik is a junior attending Pinetree Secondary School and is elated to be the Director of Activities. From a young age, Yoonsik was captured by the interactive and innovative experience of technology. During his spare time, he can be found learning a new keyboard shortcut or reading articles about the Silicon Valley. He excitedly looks forward to meeting everyone this November!
Chu Yun Yu (Director of Outreach)
My name is Chu Yun Yu, better known as Amy, and I’m currently a Grade 12 IB student at Mulgrave School. I’m delighted to be the Director of Outreach for XdHacks Mini 2019! Outside of my academic work, I can often be found catching up on my (lack of) sleep, hunting for amazing restaurants across Vancouver, or burying my head into a book. Our story
Tomorrow’s students will need to have an interdisciplinary education and understand the importance of developing problem-solving, presentation, design, and entrepreneurial skills. So, in the summer of 2019, a team of like-minded individuals asked a simple question: How can we enable and inspire highschool students to pursue a technology-oreinted career?
The answer was to host Vancouver’s first highschool Hackathon. Through this event, we strive to show students the vast range of application technology can have in the future, while instilling a passion for technology, and providing resources to begin a fruitful journey of self-discovery.
